System-on-Chip Designs: Strategy for Success

چکیده
These trends are ample evidence that SoCs are growing in importance in the semiconductor industry. The reasons are not far to look: SoCs make available, on a single piece of silicon, the embedded IP and high system-level integration required for performance demanding applications today. This enables semiconductor manufacturers to cost-effectively meet specific system requirements while delivering competitive timeto-market advantage.

A verification methodology for large mixed-signal SoC designs using NanoSim-VCS
With the increased emphasis on trimming production costs and time to market, first-pass silicon success has become a fundamental requirement for system-onchip (SoC) designs. First-pass silicon success can only be achieved through a comprehensive methodology for verifying the functional, timing, and analog/digital signal interface of a design. This article addresses the challenges associated wit...
متن کاملCongestion estimation of router input ports in Network-on-Chip for efficient virtual allocation
Effective and congestion-aware routing is vital to the performance of network-on-chip. The efficient routing algorithm undoubtedly relies on the considered selection strategy. If the routing function returns a number of more than one permissible output ports, a selection function is exploited to choose the best output port to reduce packets latency. In this paper, we introduce a new selection s...
متن کاملReliability and Performance Evaluation of Fault-aware Routing Methods for Network-on-Chip Architectures (RESEARCH NOTE)
Nowadays, faults and failures are increasing especially in complex systems such as Network-on-Chip (NoC) based Systems-on-a-Chip due to the increasing susceptibility and decreasing feature sizes. On the other hand, fault-tolerant routing algorithms have an evident effect on tolerating permanent faults and improving the reliability of a Network-on-Chip based system. This paper presents reliabili...
متن کاملTrend and Challenge on System-on-a-Chip Designs
The success of system-on-a-chip (SoC) hinges upon a wellconcerted integrated approach from multiple disciplines, such as device, design, and application. From the device perspective, rapidly improving VLSI technology allows the integration of billions of transistors on a single chip, thus permitting a wide range of functions to be combined on one chip. From the application perspective, numerous...
متن کاملThe IBM ASIC/SoC
This paper describes the methodology employed by the IBM Microelectronics Division for the design of its Blue Logic applicationspecific integrated circuits (ASICs) and system-on-a-chip (SoC) designs. This methodology is used by both IBM ASIC and SoC designers, as well as OEM customers. A key focus of the IBM ASIC/SoC methodology, outlined in the first section of this paper, is the first-time-ri...
